Starting with Kohinoor Technical Institute in 1961 founded by the eminent educationist, Mr. Manohar Joshi, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and former Lok Sabha Speaker of India. Kohinoor Group forayed into Real Estate forming Kohinoor Developers in 1980 closely followed with Hotel Airport Kohinoor Private Limited located in Andheri, Mumbai in 1986. Kohinoor Power Company was subsequently established in 2001 which supplies power to Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB).In the year 1998 Hotel Airport Kohinoor went on to become the four star Hotel Kohinoor Continental .

Over the past 45 years, Joshi’s Kohinoor Technical Institute
(JKTI) has grown into pioneer institution in its own right,
offering technical, vocational and computer courses all under
one roof. In December 2004, JKTI was awarded ISO 9001: 2000
certification becoming one of the first few vocational institutes
to get ISO accreditation.
Kohinoor earned a coveted place for itself on the world education map in the year 2000, Kohinoor has close association with several leading Universities and professional colleges around the world. The Kohinoor Hospitality School collaborated with the world- renowned Swiss hospitality, International Hotel Management Institute (IMI), to establish Kohinoor-IMI School of Hospitality Management, a residential school located at Kohinoor Global Campus Amidst picturesque background of a small hill station, Khandala. Kohinoor-IMI has been consistently getting 100% placement for its students over the past couple of years in reputed hospitality and service organizations like J. W. Marriott, Le Meridian, Hyatt, Orange, Qatar Airways, Ginger Hotels, ITC Hotels etc.
On Kohinoor Foundation Day, December 7, 2002 the Kohinoor group went National and today boasts of a presence in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in the field of vocational education.
2004, Kohinoor’s Real Estate division got a boost with plans
to launch the prestigious Kohinoor City project at Kurla
– Vidyavihar gaining momentum. The Kurla – Vidyavihar belt
has poised to become Mumbai’s imminent heartland.
In the year (2005-06), Kohinoor Business School took a step ahead by starting Post Graduate programs in Business Management (PGPBM).
Alliance with YCMOU the fifth ranking Open University in India resulted in the launching of BBA in Hotel and Tourism Management and an MBA in Hospitality Management. With such a unique spectrum of courses to offer, the Kohinoor Educational Institutional is in a class of its own.
