Indradhana 2010 Rotary Conference
R.C. Panvel chose the hold their Indradhana 2010 Rotary Conference at Kohinoor Global Campus on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th February 2010. The Activity Centre was the venue for the conference with seating for more than one thousand guests, guest speakers came from across the globe to attend and share the Indian hospitality. A number of young people on an international exchange programme enjoyed the occasion.
Kohinoor – IMI School of Hospitality Management had the responsibility for providing breakfast and lunch for 1,600 on Saturday and 1,100 people on Sunday, including the international VIPs. Weeks of planning and discussion with all concerned resulted in an occasion to be remembered. Faculties and students worked as a team to produce food and service – par excellence!
A magnificent learning experience for the students at the biggest ever event staged at Kohinoor Global Campus.
World Tourism Day
WORLD TOURISM DAY is celebrated every year on 27th September throughout the world. Organized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) the event is celebrated annually on September 27th and 2009 was based on the theme: Celebrating Diversity.
This is World Tourism Day’s 30th anniversary and presents an opportunity to highlight the wealth of cultural and natural diversity across the globe as well as the role of sustainable tourism in preserving this diversity. Diversity has long been the driving force behind tourism which in turn has become an engine for socio-economic development, poverty alleviation and international understanding.

Kohinoor IMI, celebrated the World Tourism Day on 25th September, through various events in the form of competitions for the schools and colleges of Pune & Lonavala. As Tourism is a mass cultural activity, Kohinoor IMI takes the pride of involving the future of our country, the school students, to be a part of the whole celebration. Various competitions like Poster Painting, Craft Demonstration, Photography competition, Fancy Dress, Carving and Flower Arrangement competitions were organized as a part of the celebration.

The students of Kohinoor IMI under the guidance of Prof Sanjeeb Pal, Faculty Hotel Operation for Tourism Studies, organized a theme food festival – Mountain cuisines of India with a theme setup of Mountain railway to showcase the Hospitality of Kohinoor IMI to the Tourism World.
Ten schools from Lonavala and Pune participated in the competitions along with the Tourism World Stalwarts , Mrs Sandhya Nathi( Executive Tourism- IRCTC West Zone, Mr Sunil Kamthan ( Regional Executive , IRCTC, West Zone), Executive Chef and F&B Manager of Dukes Retreat , Lonavala. Among the other dignitaries present were Prof Rod Bunting ( Principal KIMI), Mrs Madhulika Siddiqui ( Sr Mgr Admin, KGC) and Vice Principal - Mr Debasish Ghosh. Reported by: Prof Sanjeeb Pal
Cocktails and Mocktails!

The recent Cocktails and Mocktails competition was a huge success and is most likely to be a regular event on the KIMI calendar. Students from second and third years were invited to participate in the competition. The objective was simple – who could demonstrate and make the best in front of two industry experts? Mr Sumeet Kumar (F & B Manager from Fariyas Hotel Lonavala) and Mr Hemant (Assistant F & B Manager at the Orchid in Pune) judged the Cocktails and Mocktails and declared the winners to be: Amkit Verma and Sumeet Wadhwani, Second Prize: Mrunal Soni and Anup Jain, Third Prize: Abhijeet Gadgil and Akshay Kumar Bhansali.

Convocation 2009

Convocation for 2009 graduates took place on the campus on 19th September 2009.
Approximately 800 people including graduates, faculties, guests and proud parents and families all gathered on the campus to enjoy the occasion. The ceremony was shared by students from both Kohinoor – IMI School of Hospitality Management and Kohinoor Business School. Guest of Honour Shri Vithal, Kamat Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Orchid Hotels in Mumbai, gave a fascinating Acceptance Speech full of fun, humour and motivation which will remain with the guests for a very long time. Honourable Shri Manohar Joshi, founder of The Kohinoor Group, gave the Convocation Address when he recounted some interesting anecdotes and wished the graduates well for their futures.
Lunch was prepared and served for the assembled gathering by students of Kohinoor –IMI School of Hospitality Management. The music for the day was provided by the Naval Band from INS Shivaji.
